"silly rules"

Law is about In general, a rule of being or of conduct, established by an authority able to enforce its will; a controlling regulation; the mode or order according to which an agent or a power acts.
Different states of the United States have some unique yet foolish and eccentric laws of their own.
In Alabama, putting salt on a railroad track may be punishable by death
keeping an ice cream cone in your back pocket at any time is a crime.

A law in Fairbanks, Alaska does not allow moose to have sex on city streets.

In Alaska, you may hunt a bear safely but it is illegal to wake a bear and take a picture for photo opportunities.

In Arizona, US, donkeys cannot sleep in bathtubs and you may be imprisoned for 25 years for cutting down a cactus.
In Arkansas, schoolteachers who bob their hair are not eligible for a raise and it is illegal to buy or sell blue light bulbs.
In Baldwin Park, California, nobody is allowed to ride a bicycle in a swimming pool
in Los Angeles, a man can legally beat his wife with a leather belt or strap, but the belt can't be wider than 2 inches, unless he has his wife's consent to beat her with a wider strap. Consent should be given prior to the event, as is carefully stipulated.
Silly Rules & Decisions
Here are some weird and illogical rules and regulations and decisions imposed on the people in various regions. Thankfully, they were just April Fool hoaxes or they would have had drastic effects and might have resulted in rebellions, revolutions and mass movements to dethrone such stupid and eccentric authority.
In 1959, the Kokomo Tribune of Indiana announced that to cut the costs, the city police would close each night from 6 pm to 6 am and one can leave their messages on an answering machine, which will be screened by an officer in the morning. It will also lessen the pressure of work as many of the calls would be old by that time and there would be no need to answer them. A spokesman for the police commented that in the case there is an emergency call in the night, they can go check the hospitals and the coroner in the morning and know if anything has happened or not!
In 1987, a Los Angeles disc jockey that Los Angeles Highway System would be closed for an entire month for repairs from April 8. The citizens were highly alarmed by the startling news for they could not avoid the use of the highway to navigate through the city and immediately the radio station and the California Highway Patrol were flooded with thousands of frantic calls. The intense public response stunned even the station, not to mention that the California Department of Transportation didn't find it 'very funny.'

New Yorkers cannot dissolve a marriage over irreconcilable differences until both parties agree to it. (And if they can agree to that, they can probably try agreeing to everything else too... and they might find out then that they won't need to divorce after all... very smart, the Americans)

Signs Warnings For Fools
Some of the warnings, cautions, instructions and signs placed on the products or standing erect on the roadside seem so silly and nonsensical that one cannot help but read them twice in an attempt to understand them. Yet, few are worth reading again while some others seem as if the person who placed the sign had no idea himself of its purpose. The absurdity of these signs is what makes them so humorous. Here are some funny ones for you:
• A sign placed near the State Prison on Interstate 10, Near Phoenix, AZ, states that ‘Do Not Stop for Hitchhikers’.
• The sign at Boyne Falls, Michigan, U.S. 131, instructs ‘Do not pass while opposing traffic present’.
• A warning to tourists at Highway 26, Idaho Falls, Idaho states that ‘Don't laugh at the natives’.
• There was a sign on the road, which asks us to ‘Ignore this sign’.
• At entrance to jail in the Sheriff's Dept., Warrden County, IN, a sign reads – ‘No weapons beyond this point’. It is written below in Braille too.
• A sign indicating a left bend in the road had ‘Keep Right’ written underneath.
• A warning sign at Rim Drive, Durango, CO, states ‘Do Not Hit This Sign’.
• In various parts of Jamaica, Speed Bumps are called Sleeping Policemen. So, you can find warning signs at some places stating that there are ‘Sleeping Policemen Ahead’.
• Demazin Infant Drops has warning imprinted on it stating that ‘This formula may cause drowsiness. If affected do not operate heavy machinery or drive a vehicle’. Of course, baby needs to be told of this! A similar warning can be seen on Boot's Childrens Cough Medicine.
• Bayer Aspirin warns the patients that ‘Do not take if allergic to aspirin’, as if the name leaves any doubt of it being an Aspirin.
• A packet on Birth Control Pills advises you that ‘Do not use if you are pregnant, intend to become pregnant, or might be pregnant’.
• Nytol Sleep Aid warns you that the medicine ‘May cause drowsiness’. It is for that purpose, isn’t it?
• There is a Hair Coloring company that asks you not to use their product ‘as an ice cream topping’.
• Fritos had a special promotion scheme, which stated that ‘You could be a winner! No purchase necessary. Details inside’.
